Tile Flooring
Tile flooring is one of the most popular choices for flooring materials here is central Florida for a number of reasons. For starters tile floors are very durable, easily able to withstand impacts, scratches, scuffs, and any other form of everyday wear and tear, and still last for decades. Tile also remains at a cooler temperature more easily, which is perfect for the hot temperatures in central Florida as nobody wants to walk around on a hot floor on a hot day. Another reason people love tile flooring is because of the ease they during cleaning. Tile is a flat and smooth stone, and when something is spilled on or over it you just need to wipe it up and your floors will be good as new. No vacuuming needed like if you have carpeting. Tile floors also have a long lifespan, lasting up to several decades depending on the material. Tile floors are a very popular choice for home and business owners. They come in a variety of different materials, styles, and patterns, so choosing what type of tile that is best for you can be overwhelming, especially if you head to a tile store and see everything all at once. Don't worry though, because we are here to help you every step of the way. The most common types of tile flooring are-
|
Ceramic Tile: Ceramic tile is one of the most popular choices for tiling floors because of its low price, durability, and easy maintenance. Ceramic tile is one of the cheapest options for tile materials so that alone makes it the first and only choice for most people. Ceramic tile is also glazed surface, meaning that it is water and stain resistant, so you don't have to worry about unsightly remnants from spilled food or drinks.
Porcelain Tile: Porcelain tile is similar to ceramic but at a higher quality, so if you like to look and feel of ceramic but want to upgrade than this is the better choice for you. Porcelain is harder and more durable than ceramic, making it harder to damage and giving it a longer lifespan. Porcelain is also less porous than ceramic, meaning that it is more water resistant than ceramic, allowing it to be installed in places where humidity, water, or other fluids are abundant.
Marble Tile: Marble is cut from real stone instead of made from partial synthetics in a lab, as such it is one of the most expensive options to choose from. Marble tile is loved because of its sophistication and beauty. After all it is what the ancient Greeks carved statues out of. However, it is not as durable as other forms of tile, so it is best no to have it installed in high traffic areas such as your kitchen.
Granite Tile: Granite is more durable than ceramic, but just less so than porcelain. Granite tile is one of the most popular materials for countertops so it isn't something that most people would immediately think of for floors, but it can create a beautiful design anyone would love. Granite is more durable than common ceramic so it's more resistant to impacts and scratches but because it is a completely natural stone it's more porous, and this more prone to staining.

Hardwood Flooring
The oldest and most traditional type of flooring on the market, hardwood floors are usually the go-to option of flooring for many homeowners as they work with any look and complement just about any style of home. Some of the advantages of hardwood are its lifespan and the long-term monetary investment. Hardwood floors are considered by many to be an example of "timeless quality". Even amongst other flooring materials, hardwood has always given a feeling of luxury and elegance because of its beauty. Hardwood also has a fantastic monetary advantage over other types of flooring as well. Its value doesn't really go down over time, making them a great long-term investment for resale later on. Hardwood is also better for children or those who suffer with allergies. It is non-toxic, doesn't attract dust, and doesn't hold old or musty smells (which is also good for pet owners).
However, there are disadvantages too. True Hardwood can be very pricey, thus an expensive upfront investment. It is also less friendly to water and humidity as they can cause warping of the boards, or mold to start to grow if not properly maintained. |
Solid Hardwood is exactly what is sounds like, solid wood all the way through. It can be sanded and refurbished a number of times to always have a fresh look and perfect beauty.
Engineered Hardwood are planks with solid wood on the top and bottom, with plywood in between. It is better suited than solid hardwood for being placed on top of heating elements and hard concrete slabs.
Bamboo is becoming an increasingly popular choice for hardwood floors. It is not only affordable and stylist, but bamboo is also sustainable as it is a very fast-growing plant. Bamboo is also sturdy and can take wear and tear.

Laminate Flooring
Laminate Flooring is an extremely popular types of flooring all over the country. Invented in 1977 in Sweden it quickly rose in popularity with homeowners because of its low price and imitation design. With one of its layers being a photo-realistic image, laminate is able to closely resemble hardwood floors, or even other material such as tile or stone. This look-a-like design is perfect for people who want the look of hardwood or tile but don't want to have to pay the higher price to get what they want. In fact, laminate is one of the cheapest options of all types of materials for floors which makes it very attractive to people on a budget. Now, with the protective coating on top, laminate is typically viewed as more durable than real hardwood as it is more scratch resistant and is far more resistant to water and moisture. It is not as solid or hard stone, so it doesn't quite stand up to tile in terms of hardness and impact resistance, but that doesn't mean that it's a flimsy piece of junk either.
|
Laminate Flooring is most commonly made up of three primary layers: the baseboard, the image layer, and the protective coating on top. The baseboard of laminate is usually made up of fiberboard or resin and gives it the plank-like hardness of wood boards similar to hardwood. The second layer is the image of the design or pattern that the laminate will look like. Most laminate design imitate the look of real hardwood, but other styles such as tile, stone, marble, and even fabric are available too. The final layer is the top one, and it is made of a protective coating of hardened plastic. It covers the boards like how lamination covers important papers, hence the name, laminate floors. This allows it to be resistant to water and moisture, with higher quality flooring being completely waterproof, and have a greater durability towards scratches and impacts.
Vinyl Flooring
Vinyl flooring has been gaining popularity in recent years because of its low cost, low maintenance, and ease of installation. Scientifically known as Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), it was discovered by accident in 1926 by Waldo Semon. Waldo later developed several methods for the application of PVC, which lead to the release of Vinyl Plank Flooring during the 1970's. Vinyl is a synthetic material that is very similar to laminate in the way that it functions as a cheaper imitation of other materials such as hardwood or tile. Unlike laminate however it doesn't have an image layer with a plastic coating on top and is instead a solid engineered material. This doesn't give it as many varieties in design as laminate but provides it with greater durability. One of the signature characteristics of Vinyl flooring is its core firmness with soft surface. The means that it is a solid and sturdy floor with just the right amount of give, making it soft on your feet. This unique floor design also means that Vinyl is almost completely soundproof.

Vinyl Plank Flooring: Vinyl Plank Flooring closely mimics hardwood or laminate. Not only does it have to same look, but with the same shape as well. Plank Vinyl Floors are becoming increasingly common in newer apartment that are being built. Plank Vinyl has a foam core that makes it rigid and strong. It can be installed over other types of floors such as concrete, wood, tile, and other vinyl.
Vinyl Sheet Flooring: Vinyl Sheet Floorings typically comes in rolls 6 - 12 feet wide and can easily cover larger spaces. Usually made with fiberglass core, Sheet Vinyl doesn't crack, expand, or curl. Sheet vinyl can appear as more types of floors with more designs because of this unique form as opposed to plank vinyl which closely resembles wood or laminate with its from alone.

Carpet Flooring
What is probably the most common type of flooring in the country, if not the world, carpet can be found in just about every house, condo, or apartment you walk into. It provides a softer flooring to walk on than other materials and can help insulate your floors too. Ancient carpets can be traced back as much as five thousand years to the middle east and was usually made up of sheep wool or goat fur. Modern carpets, however, are vastly different. The carpet industry in the United States officially started in 1791 when the first carpet mill opened in Philidelphia. Nowadays, carpeting is composed of mostly synthetic materials such as nylon or polyester instead of wool, but wool is still an option for those who prefer natural materials. Although you can expect to pay more for real wool. Because of the shift to synthetics, carpet is now widely considered to be the cheapest type of flooring you can get, which is one of the reasons that it has become so popular.
|
Now, there are large variety of different types and styles of carpeting (another reason that it is so popular, something for everyone) but there are three overall basic types that sum everything up nicely.
Texture Carpet: Texture, also known as twist, is by far the most popular choice for permanent carpet instillation amongst homeowners. It is a two-tone yarn that is tightly twisted (hence the nickname) which is not only soft and bouncy to the touch but resistant to dirt as well.
Berber Carpet: Berber, or loop, is a style that is made from dense yarn that is not shorn and tightly wound in its construction. This means that it is highly resistant to stains and hold up better than texture carpet in highly trafficked areas such as stairs in the home or public places.
Pattern Carpet: As you can probably guess with its name, pattern carpet appears to have its pattern built directly into the piece of carpet. It in constructed with a combination of Texture and Berber and is most commonly found in family rooms and home offices due to its apparent sophistication. Public places such as libraries, restaurants, and stores also tend to feature Pattern carpet as well.

Bathroom Remodeling
Vanity: Bathroom vanities can be a make it or break it for some people when it comes to where they live. A prime example of this is a single vs double vanity in the master bathroom. For many couples they each want their own sink with their own space. Hand soap, toothpaste, makeup, medicine, lotion, and more can all be found at the bathroom vanity. As it is used so often, having a beautiful vanity is understandably a common desire for most people, and it is a desire that we can and will fulfill here with any problem at all!
Shower Tile: It is extremely important for shower tile to be properly installed and sealed for obvious reasons. Tile is meant to waterproof the walls of your shower or bathtub, and if not done properly then water can get behind the tile and seep into your walls. The long-term effects of this are permanent water damage and possible mold and mildew growth. This can cause you thousands of dollars to fix, so instead of having this unfortunate payout (and headache) contact us to make sure that your bathroom renovation is completed right the first time. We don't cut corners when it comes to the quality of our work so you can be sure to get both a properly insulated, and an absolutely gorgeous bathroom shower and/or tub.
